My project was to choose a single font design and make into a 3D type sculpture. In this project, our learning targets are
- Demonstrate the synthesis of technology and visual design elements.
- Demonstrate the inclusion of a variety of materials.
I learned about the shoulders, ear in a letter and just in general that letters have parts. I also learned how to add movement. Typography use visual design elements and they consist of form, texture, color, and value. I didn’t pick a specific style to follow I just went with whatever popped in my head.
I was graded on multiple design element including forming movement and usage of mixed media including cardboard. The materials I used to build my type sculpture were tape, cardboard, and scissors. Then after putting them together, I used typography print out papers to cover the cardboard with modge podge. My limitations were that I had to use black and white paper.
My sculpture design changed from just being a simple R block to having curves with sharp legs.
Some problems I came across when developing my sculpture was that the tape didn’t hold the cardboard together well. The tapes would just peel off by itself over time.
I think my sculpture met all the requirement. I gave my letter movement and use many materials. Some changes I would improve on the design of the legs.
Fake News Infographic
It’s important to identify fake new especially when it comes to politics so we won’t miss understand things and start getting the wrong ideas. It confuses us on what really going on.
The subject of this pop- up card was to use craft knives and make text designs in our cards. I used glue, color pencil, scissors, craft knives, and paper. What I came up was to make a happy Halloween card. What I learned from the safety procedures for craft knives was to avoid excessive force or pressure to keep from making cuts that are too deep. I had to the paper on a mat, and cut away from the body to make to pop – up card. I made a lot of changes in my happy Halloween design text. It didn’t turn out how i wanted it to, because I was wasted time erasing and redoing it again I was in a rush I had to do a basic style text font.

Density is how tightly packed an object is
2. What is the volume? How is Volume measured?
The amount of space the object takes up. It’s measured in cubic cm/ml.
3. What is mass? How is mass measured?
Mass is the amount of the amount of matter in an object and it’s measured in a scale.
4. Why can density be used to identify materials?
Density can be measured to be used to identify materials because a group of materials usually have a common density.
5. What is the density of water?
The density is less than 1 g/cm3.
6. It’s going to float because anything that less than one floats, more than one sinks.
The purpose of the experiment was to use physical properties to identify an object by measuring the mass and volume of the object, then solving for the density.
My group had to find the material of a cube. We first determine the mass of the cube using a scale given to us. The mass was 18.3g. Then we had to figure out the volume of the object using 2 methods. The first way we figured out the volume was that we dropped the cube in a 250ML graduated cylinder with water and measured how much the water increased by. It increased by 30ml. The second way we figured out the volume was that we measured the cubic sides the calculating the volume using the cubic formula. The volume in cm^3 is 15.6. Then lastly we divided the mass and volume to figure out the density which was 1.2ml. One error that came up was that density came out wrong we divided the mass and volume wrong.
Some improvement suggestion is to be more clear about what we had to do with our materials. My group was lost. Overall the experiment was great and fun to solve.
We can use density to figure out more chemistry since density is part of the properties of matter and properties of matter is part of chemistry.
In prototyping, we created a design for many things. Early in the year, we created designs for shoes and cars. Our main task was to build a skateboard and be creative designing it. My teacher, Mr.Gerry taught us the steps of how to build a skateboard and showed us different design techniques. Then in groups of 2, we started to create our own skateboard from wood and other materials given to us.
Me and my friend max worked together on the skateboard. Starting off we had to glue the layers of wood together, but we had different layers of wood long and cross grains. They had to be put in a specific order. We used glue, an air vacuum with a piece of foam to give the skateboard its volume. Whenever we had to glue the layers we only had 7 minutes to apply it and it took many days since it took a long time to dry. Once we were done creating our skateboards, we moved on with the designing step.
My teacher Mr.Gerry showed us different ideas and techniques to put on our skateboards. Me and my partner decided to create our skateboard inspired by a video game called Persona 5. The theme of the video game is red with black stars. We started sketching ideas and as went along the project they were changed. Once we knew what we wanted to design we had to get our materials together.
We used many things to design our Persona 5 skateboard. We cut out vinyl in shape of stars. We print out persona characters from the video game and wheat-pasted them on to the skateboard. For one character we decided to use wood burning to include him. We used paint to write out “Take your heart” a quote from P5.
We put everything together and we were done with our skateboard. This was all done inspired by Persona 5. Some things that I would change is adding more stars and re doing Akechi wood burn and shift it vertically. I would add more persona 5 designs.
I learned how to use gradient colors and change the colors.
I learned how to use the 3D rotation tool to open and close my door.
I’ve learned how to create buildings and trees with the deco tool.
Ive learned how to use the pencil tool to make waves of the ocean and the shape tool.
This is my shape selection project where i had to put the shapes in its place and fix them. In this lesson i learned how to transform the shape into a different way.
